RIA Myanmar-China Bake Sale.....At Least It's a Start

Last Friday afternoon, the students of Rhein International Academy held a bake sale to raise awareness of the plight of the many people in Myanmar and China who have suffered the loss of their families, homes, and safe drinking water, medicines etc. in recent cyclones and earthquakes. Thanks to the generous donation of school families, and the creative baking of school clubs and classes, RIA managed to raise about 230 Euros. All of this money will be forwarded directly to World Vision in Germany for use in the Myanmar-China relief operations. Thanks to everyone who helped out....and remember, this crisis did not end because the Bake Sale did.....there are so many other ways to help!

Middle School Puts on the Ritz.....well, ties anyway!

On May 7, 2008 our school held an Open House Day for any new students, parents, or community members. In honor of this special occasion, and particularly in honor of the visit of our distinguished mayor, Herr Dietz, the middle school class decided to wear ties for the day. What a good-looking group!

Invention Convention April 7-11

All students at RIA are taking part in an Invention Convention this year. Each student will produce a working model of a new or innovative game or invention, as well as a small poster to describe the best features of their wonderful new creation. All of these inventions will be on display during our Open House on Thursday, April 10.

On the afternoon of April 11, all RIA students will be assigned a team, and teams will then compete in a group problem-solving activity (top secret at this point)

All parents and visitors are welcome!

Clubs are great this year!

This year Rhein International has a wide variety of clubs after school on Wednesdays. We now have clubs for chess, knitting, cooking, card games, fitness, American sign language, cheerleading, and puppets.

What a great way to spend a Wednesday afternoon -- having fun and learning, too!

Middle School Helps with Grape Harvest
All of the students of RIA, including the Middle School, helped to harvest the grapes in the small vineyard right beside our school. Students had a lot of fun helping each other to clip off the grape clusters and carry them to the waiting trailer. There, some of the grapes were crushed, and all of us got to sample the fresh, cold grapejuice. Yum!
